Maybelline as you all know, by now is my favourite drug store brand. The brand has recently collaborated with Gigi Hadid, and have come out with the collection . This collection launched around October 2017 in the States, and is now available in India. I looked through various Youtube vidoes and reviews and most of the reviews weren’t really positive, but there was this one Lipstick shade that caught my attention, and I decided to pick it up from Nykaa. The collection has 6 Lip shades, 2 brow products, an eye liner and a Mascara.
The collection has 6 Lip Shades – Austyn, Kaihr , Lani, Taura, Mccall and Erin. I picked up the shade Taura, as it seemed to be an apt nude shade.
The first thing that caught my attention was the packaging, it looked stunning to me. The outer packaging is holographic and the primary packaging is a pale pink tube with “Gigi Hadid” mentioned on it. The lipstick retails for INR 550 which is slightly more than their regular color sensational lip colors which retails for about INR 475.
Texture & Formula
The texture is creamy and looks matte on application. It doesn’t dry out the lips which is a good thing, and I like my lipsticks the same way.
Color Pay-off & Longevity
The color pay-off of the lipstick is quite contradicting. On hands, it swipes quite dark, but on lips its actually two shades lighter than it looks in reality. Till the time, I had not swatched the lipstick, I was loving it, however post the swatch I was a little disappointed, as it swatched quite lighter than it appeared. I tried to build it up, but it didn’t. I thought it to be a perfect nude for Indian Skin tones, but I am afraid that its going to look washed out on most of the skin tones. The darker shades in this range may work well for Indian Skin tones, but you may want to avoid Mccall and Taura. Personally, Taura works for my skin tone, but yes it might not go for with all skin tones as mentioned above.
The longevity of the lipstick is quite okay, stays for about 4-5 hours. It does apply opaque in one swipe and is pigmented. The lipstick leaves a whitish cast on my inner lips, which I am not really a fan of. Overall, I am not super impressed with Taura, and would not recommend you to try Taura atleast from this range, incase you have a deeper skin tone than mine.
Hope this review was helpful. Let me know incase you picked up any shade from the range, and what did you guys think about it ?
